I. Posestrima
There were still people who had respect and admiration for them. They sang epic poems about heroes who asked the Samovily for help, to be on their side and protect them in battle, and about those who gained a Samovila as a Posestrima (a selected sister), a life-long and sacred bond. In these stories they would use their knowledge of plants to heal wounded warriors. They could even bring a fallen hero back to life, having access to the water of death and the water of life, located in their mysterious kingdom that only few could reach.
II. Sopruga
Some stories recollected the time when the affection between humans and Samovily was mutual. In those stories she would willingly choose to live with her husband. She would also use her power over the weather to protect their crops, but seeing her power her husband would usually break a taboo which would drive her away.
III. Ljubov
In some stories the Samovila’s affection was towards a woman, with whom she would dance and sing, and gift her things that would improve her life.
